Stitches Out!

I got so tickled at Colton once the stitches started coming out. He was such a big talker (like his daddy) saying how he was going to take the stitches out. He was poised and ready for action, and then he saw the first stitch being prepared to be removed. I don't think he expected the special tweezers to have to dig under the skin a bit to get hold of the suture. His eyes got huge and he briefly turned his head away. He recovers quickly and starts collecting the stitches being removed. The nurse did a good job of keeping him engaged. He was proud of his plunder and carefully wrapped them up in a tissue to bring home. He is a hoot. He does a beautiful dance between serious and comical. He is so young and yet has a wonderful grasp on a healthy attitude. He makes me laugh when nothing else does. He has a way of showing me to not sweat the small stuff. What a cool boy.
Anyway, the doctor has grounded Glen for several more weeks. He is very restricted in his movements--no bending, twisting, etc.-- and cannot, under any circumstances, lift more than 10 pounds. I am putting this in writing because we all know how men are--start feeling a little better and they think they can conquer the world again. The doctor says to exhibit common sense, and my question (which I kept to myself) is where do you get that prescription filled at? I have said, "Glen, what do you think you are doing now?," so much that Colton has adopted it as his motto as well. If it's not me, it's Colton saying, "Dad. Dad!! What are you doing?" So, Glen has kept his safe spot on the couch occupied. We are hoping to have Glen back at church with us again very soon. We have missed him in so many ways. I felt like we had to leave Glen behind all the time. This is Glen's fifth back surgery. This time, Glen is going to take the proper amount of time to heal before returning to his career. This time is going to be different. This time is going to be good.
