Colton's 5th Birthday

Happy 5th birthday Colton!! Colton has his "Cowboy Up" look on. We had a blast with family and the party didn't stop until way after dark! Thank you Matthew for giving everyone a roping lesson. Thank you everyone for the wonderful gifts.

SCHOOL GARDEN PARTY / OPEN HOUSE

Colton is checking out the Kindergarten classrooms at his new school. Daddy is very much interested in the setup as well. Mommy is the least comfortable--I want to homeschool. We are going to let him experience public education and then we will revisit our original plan and see if it still fits. We must keep all children in our prayers.

Hair Cut Day

Colton Loves to help cut his Daddy's hair. Glen gets a little nervous about it, but I assure him that Colton won't do anything that I can't fix. Knock on wood! :-)

I took this picture Easter Sunday. My digital camera is in need of repair, so I had to pull out the old 35mm (old film included). All that really matters is that my baby is happy. His smile is priceless to me.

Mom's Yard

This is a small view of Mom's yard. Yes, I know we all know what ice looks like by now, but I thought God made things look so beautiful. It is amazing how much damage one tree can do.

ICE STORM 2009

Colton and I spent a lot of time outside. Since we were out of power for 13 days, I kept busy trying to keep the ice broken in the stock tanks and water buckets. Colton enjoyed knocking icicles off of everything as well as making his bike skid across the frozen ground. I really don't mind the pioneer life other than lack of hot showers. Since we are on a well, we had to stay at my mother's house that is serviced by rural water. At least we had water and a fireplace there. We heated water at the wood stove and cooked outside on a camp stove. We were blessed when our neighbor down the road regained power and brought their generator over for us to use. They are so precious. The only casualty we had was Colton's fish, Herby, that did not make it through the cold. Herby had a nice funeral and is buried under a shade tree (what's left of it). Colton let me know the other day that he was ready for Jesus to send Herby back. He is so sweet.

ICE STORM 2009

The first picture is of our front yard. I did not take pictures of the uprooted trees,downed fences and the pasture because I could walk only in open spaces--too dangerous otherwise. The second picture depicts a very small portion of our backyard, but gives a very good idea how bad things were. Limbs fell for days and I would stand on the porch and count the crash intervals--never more than eight seconds apart all day and all night. The beauty was unbelievable, but it was equaled to in danger.
